Amboseli

Amboseli boasts an inexhaustible subterranean water source, filtered through extensive layers of volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro's ice cap, which ultimately channel into two crystal-clear springs located within the heart of the park. Nevertheless, the region's climate can fluctuate dramatically, swinging between periods of drought and heavy rainfall. In the early 1990s, unrelenting rain transformed Amboseli into a marshland, while a few years later, the absence of rain turned the once-grassy plains into arid dust.

Amboseli encompasses an area of 39,206 hectares (392 km2; 151 sq. mi) and serves as the central core of an expansive ecosystem spanning 8,000 square kilometers (3,100 sq. mi) across the Kenya-Tanzania border. It is renowned for offering the best opportunity in Africa to observe freely roaming elephants and a diverse range of other wildlife species.

Moreover, the park provides visitors with the chance to interact with the Maasai people and enjoy breathtaking vistas of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest standalone mountain globally. In the case of Amboseli, it offers vast skies, distant horizons, marshy springs, and dry, dust-covered terrain trodden upon by numerous animals.
