Itinerary

Your adventure begins at Lusaka Airport with a scenic flight over Zambia’s heartlands to Kafue National Park, one of Africa’s largest and most diverse wilderness areas. Upon landing, the park’s sweeping plains, winding rivers, and abundant wildlife come into view. You’ll be transferred to your Lodge, an eco-luxury retreat on the Kafue River, where solar-powered suites offer uninterrupted views of the water and wildlife.

After settling into your tented suite, head out on your first game drive, spotting elephants, buffalo, and the elusive big cats in their natural habitat. As the sun sets, return to the lodge for a gourmet dinner under the stars, accompanied by the sounds of the bush and the gentle flow of the river.

Accommodation: Ila Safari Lodge

Awaken to the soft glow of dawn and the calls of birds along the river. Begin the day with an early morning game drive, exploring Kafue’s plains and woodlands, where leopards slink through the trees and antelope graze undisturbed. Return for breakfast at the lodge before enjoying a leisurely morning by the infinity pool, watching hippos in the river, or relaxing on your private deck.

In the late afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Kafue River, gliding past waterbirds, hippos, and elephants, with the fiery sunset mirrored on the water. Finish the day with a three-course dinner in the lodge, savoring regional flavors while the African night unfolds.

Experience Kafue intimately on a guided walking safari, following tracks and discovering flora, insects, and smaller wildlife overlooked from vehicles. Learn the secrets of the ecosystem from your expert guide, deepening your understanding of the bush. Return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest, then venture on an afternoon game drive to catch wildlife in the golden light.

End the day with a sunset cruise on the Kafue River, where elephants often congregate at the banks, and the sky blazes in hues of orange and pink. Evening concludes with a fireside dinner, immersing you in the sights, sounds, and scents of the African wilderness.

After breakfast, board a flight to Livingstone, where the adventure continues on the banks of the Zambezi River. Transfer to Tongabezi Lodge, a riverside sanctuary blending modern luxury with African character.

Explore the lodge’s lush gardens and individually designed cottages before an afternoon Zambezi sundowner cruise, where hippos, crocodiles, and birds provide a captivating spectacle against a glowing sunset. Return to lodge for an evening of leisure and riverside views.

Accommodation: Tongabezi Lodge

Today is devoted to Victoria Falls, the “Smoke that Thunders,” where guided walks reveal dramatic cascades, misty rainbows, and viewpoints brimming with photographic opportunities.

Return to Tongabezi Lodge for lunch and optional activities: a canoe excursion on the Zambezi, a local village visit, or a gentle game drive. The evening offers a candlelit floating dinner on the Zambezi, delivered by canoe, where stars and river reflections create an unforgettable dining experience.

After breakfast on your private deck, soak in the river’s final tranquil moments before being transferred to Livingstone Airport for your onward journey. Depart with memories of Kafue’s wilderness, the thrill of game drives and boat safaris, and the majesty of Victoria Falls.
