Itinerary

Maintaining its status as one of the last havens on Earth where wildlife remains undisturbed, the Maasai Mara stands witness to the abundant numbers reminiscent of Africa's plains and forests of yesteryear.

Positioned as the northern frontier of the expansive Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara welcomes the awe-inspiring seasonal migration of numerous wildebeests, zebras, and their accompanying predators. Upon arrival, indulge in a delicious lunch, setting the stage for an afternoon game drive.

Dinner and overnight stay await at the campsite or lodge, providing an immersive experience in the heart of nature.

Accommodation: Prideinn Mara Camp

Embark on a full day of exploration after a hearty breakfast, accompanied by a packed lunch for the day's adventure. The reserve, renowned for its black-manned lions, offers an abundance of resident wildlife, presenting a unique opportunity to witness the big five during the morning game drive.

Many of the cheetahs, displaying remarkable familiarity, seek refuge from the sun under vehicles, with some even ascending onto the roof for a superior view of potential prey. For avid bird enthusiasts, the reserve boasts an impressive catalog of nearly 500 species, including 16 eagle species, numerous hawks and falcons, 6 vulture species, 8 stork species, 4 bustard species (including the Kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird), and 9 sunbird species.

As the day unfolds, immerse yourself in the captivating wildlife and diverse avian life, culminating in a delightful evening. Enjoy a delicious dinner and retreat to the campsite or lodge, surrounded by the enchanting ambiance of the African wilderness.

Embark on the day with an early morning game drive in Maasai Mara while making your way out of the National Reserve. After completing border formalities, journey to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.

Along the way, there's an option to pause at the renowned Olduvai Gorge, where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey made their groundbreaking discovery of the earliest human remains. Take advantage of a brief lecture detailing the archaeological digs and geological features of the gorge, followed by a visit to the small museum.

While it will be a long day of driving, the game drives in and out of the parks can offer unexpectedly incredible sightings. Dinner and overnight at the campsite or lodge.

As you ascend the hillside, a vast expanse unfolds before you, extending as far as the eyes can see—the expansive Serengeti. Serengeti, translating to "endless plains" in Kiswahili, covers 6,900 square miles (18,000 square km) and is home to over 2 million large animals, including more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and Thomson's gazelles.

The abundance of prey attracts large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas, making it a dynamic ecosystem. Additionally, smaller creatures like rock hyrax, bat-eared foxes, mongoose, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, African hares, and nearly 500 bird species inhabit the region. Embark on an afternoon game drive en route to the campsite.

Dinner and overnight at a public campsite or private tented camp/lodge.

Accommodation: Serena Serengeti Safari Lodge

Today begins with an early wake-up for a morning safari, allowing you to spot animals during their most active time and witness a breathtaking sunrise in the African Savannah. The sunrise in this vast landscape is a truly enchanting experience.

After the game drive, return to the camp for brunch. In the afternoon, proceed to Ngorongoro, renowned as the 8th natural wonder of the world. The crater boasts walls that rise 2,000 feet high, and its floor spans 102 square miles. It serves as a virtual Noah's Ark, hosting nearly every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa, including the rare black rhino.

Remarkably, the crater has the highest concentration of wildlife on the planet. Its diverse features include a river, swamps, a soda lake resembling steam from the top and filled with flamingoes, a forest, and open plains. The resident large bull elephants in this area showcase extremely large tusks, a result of the rich mineral content in the volcanic soil and grasses.

Witnessing these incredible elephants is an unforgettable experience. Dinner and overnight at the campsite or lodge.

Embark on an early start to the day as you descend into the crater floor for a remarkable morning of wildlife exploration in one of the most awe-inspiring places on Earth. After the invigorating game drive, enjoy a picnic lunch near the beautiful Hippo Lake.

Following lunch, engage in a brief yet exciting game drive, and then ascend from the crater, proceeding to exit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on your way towards Arusha.

Anticipate returning to Arusha around 5 pm, with flexibility allowed for any specific requirements such as catching a flight or accommodating unforeseen situations.
